A veneer for your smile

Dental veneers are custom fabricated wafer-thin shells that are fitted on to the teeth’s surface as part of a simple dental job in order to improve their cosmetic appearance and hide any imperfections, without the need for tooth extraction. Veneers are placed on the front visible part of the tooth and are usually made from porcelain or composite tooth-coloured resin material which provides a genuinely natural look.

Patients opt for veneers when they experience dental issues of predominantly aesthetical character, not those caused by a lack of cleaning teeth with toothpaste for the most part. Reasons include severely stained teeth the condition of which cannot be improved with traditional teeth whitening methods, chipped or broken teeth, teeth that have been damaged due to ageing or habits such as smoking, use of medications, drinking coffee or carbonated drinks. Veneers can also be used to correct large gaps between teeth (diastemas), align slightly crooked teeth or correct any aesthetical imperfections caused genetically.  Veneers can be the solution to many dental cosmetic problems and can drastically transform the appearance of teeth, available at Essex dentists and many other around the country. Moreover, apart from being aesthetically appealing, veneers can also protect the teeth’s surface and may serve as a dental crown replacement depending on the extent to which the tooth has been damaged. The fact that veneers do not decay or become stained contributes to their significance in terms of tooth protection.

Who is a Good Candidate for Using Cheap Dental Implants?

There are many good candidates who can benefit greatly from using cheap dental implants. Let’s take a look at a few of them to see if you, too, could benefit from using cheap dental implants.

A good candidate for cheap dental implants will be in good health.
Patients who are in good physical condition usually get through the surgery needed to place cheap dental implants quite well. These patients will suffer fewer side-effects and also heal much faster than patients who are unhealthy. As a result, it’s a good idea to check with your doctor to see if you’re healthy enough to withstand a surgical procedure prior to using cheap dental implants.

A good candidate for cheap dental implants will also generally be a non-smoker and a light drinker.
Patients who drink excessively and who smoke have a greater chance of developing complications from the surgery needed to place cheap dental implants. As a result, patients who smoke and drink excessively should ask an orthodontist to see if using cheap dental implants is the right solution for them.

As you know now, healthy people who don’t smoke or drink excessively are great good candidates for cheap dental implants. There are other people who are also candidates for dental implant. Ask your orthodontist for more information today to learn who else can benefit from cheap dental implants.

How the Tummy Tuck Procedure Is Performed

One type of cosmetic surgery that you may be interested in having done is a tummy tuck, which is a way to get rid of loose, flabby skin in your abdomen area. You may be wondering how the tummy tuck procedure is performed and what you can expect from it.

The surgery itself takes anywhere from two to four hours long to complete. Most of the time the tummy tuck procedure is done on an out-patient basis where you will go home the same day. Rarely does it require an overnight stay unless there are extensive full abdominoplasties being performed.

Before going into surgery, your plastic surgeon will make markings with a pen on your abdomen to indicate where the tummy tuck incisions will be. If you are having any other type of cosmetic surgery done, such as liposuction, those areas will also be marked.

The markings can be done the same day as your surgery; however, some surgeons prefer to do them the day before. The markings can be made while you are lying down or standing up, depending on the surgeon’s preferences.

You will usually receive a sedative before being hooked up to an intravenous line. Once you are in the operating room you are injected with a solution of lidocaine, a local anesthetic, and epinephrine, medication which controls bleeding.

Surgical incisions are usually made right above the pubic mound from one hipbone to another. If you are having full abdominoplasty then another incision will be made around your navel. The incision for this type of tummy tuck is longer. With a mini-tummy tuck the incisions are shorter. The surgeon will remove pockets of fat below your navel and then stretch your skin down past the incision line. The excess skin is removed and the incision is then sutured.
